We spent the spring and summer raising six Tamshire pigs for meat, which are a mix of the heritage breed Tamworth and Berkshire pigs. They spent the summer in our meadow turning up the soil, rolling in the mud, or sleeping under the trees. Eating farm produce, they enjoyed berries, apples, pumpkins, tomatoes, watermelon and cantaloupe. Anything they didn’t enjoy like asparagus, or potatoes, they composted into dark rich soil.
